UNIQ PMR Series NMR Spectormeter
The UNIQ PMR electronics utilize state-of-the-art technology in field programmable
gate arrays (FPGA) and digital signal processors (DSP), which allows us to
build a high degree of functionality such as automatic 90 degree pulse selection
(Fig. 1) into a compact size. The instruments allow users to perform complex
measurements with full control over all parameters, so that new applications
can be developed without restrictions.

Control of the UNIQ PMR is based on a standard Windows-XP PC or notebook, so
that instrument control and data processing can be easily upgraded in line
with advances in PC technology. In addition, the use of standard PC’s
make many functions easy such as large full color displays, unlimited hard
disc storage for data, applications, calibrations, and the ability to share
data easily with other programs. The UNIQ-PMR has very short dead time and
is able to detect signal from any solid phase. It can collect up to 100,00
echoes from a CPMG experiment with a very short echo time.
The UNIQ-PMR Software is based on pre-programmed analysis algorithms according
to specified applications. The software is designed to simplify instrument
set-up and control, making the operator‘s job very easy.
NMR Technology
The UNIQ PMR series instruments are powerful bench top analyzers which utilize
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) principles to measure a wide range of materials.
Its measurement technique is non-destructive, non-invasive and harmless.
The UNIQ PMR uses a strong magnetic field and short pulses of radio frequency
energy to produce the NMR signal (FID or Echo) from the hydrogen nuclei present
in the sample.
Generally, different phases in a sample such as solid and liquid or water
and oil give NMR signals that have a different decay time. For example in
oil seeds, water is bound to a background matrix which gives signals that
decay relatively quickly compared to the oil signal (Fig. 2). The results
are clear and simple to interpret on the UNIQ PMR (Fig. 3 & 4). Set up
and calibration is quick and easy (Fig. 5).
